Singapore, 19 August 2020 — RBC Wealth Management, part of the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC), has further strengthened its relationship management team in Asia through the appointment of a senior banker to serve the financial and wealth planning needs of its HNW and UHNW clients.

Jason Tong is the latest to join RBC’s private banking team in Singapore as Executive Director, reporting to Michael Reed, Head of RBC Wealth Management, South East Asia. He will provide trusted advice and wealth management solutions to Singaporean and Chinese clients and families that have ties globally, especially to Canada, the US and the UK, a segment that RBC refers to as Asia’s global families.

“As clients look to preserve wealth during these challenging times, conversations are frequently turning to safety, security, succession and wealth planning and legacy,” said Reed. “Jason brings tremendous senior experience, particularly in the China market and joins our Singapore team of relationship experts who can help clients navigate these waters and plan for the long-term.”

Jason joins RBC Wealth Management from Bank Pictet & Cie (Asia) Ltd where he was a senior banker overseeing client relationships focused around China markets. Prior to this, he spent twelve years with OCBC Private Bank/Bank of Singapore, where he was responsible for a team of ten relationship managers. Jason earlier worked with Citibank and Prudential Assurance.

So far this year, eight new advisors have joined the Canadian firm’s wealth business in Asia. In recent weeks, Daphne Chandra has joined in Singapore as Associate Director, Relationship Manager from Henley & Partners where she was Country Head of Indonesia responsible for a portfolio of UHNW clients at the citizenship and residency planning firm.

Daphne reports to Dominic Lane, Executive Director, Team Head, Asia’s Global Families, along with Lloyd Cook who has transferred from the bank’s Vancouver business to the position of Director, Relationship Manager, also in Singapore.

They join RBC’s 2,000-strong employee base in Asia working across Wealth Management, Global Asset Management, Capital Markets and Investor & Treasury Services.
