Move Strengthens Strategic Partnership with City National Bank

BEVERLY HILLS, California (September 13, 2016) – RBC Wealth Management-U.S., one of the nation’s largest full-service securities firms, today named Michael Melton director of its Southern California complex.  In his new role, Melton will oversee 10 branches and more than 80 financial advisors. With more than 25 years of industry experience, Melton joined RBC Wealth Management in 2013 as director of the San Diego office from Morgan Stanley Smith Barney. Melton helped to open and grow RBC’s downtown San Diego office, which now has thirteen financial advisors.

The previous director of the Southern California complex, Ken Sullivan, will be transitioning to a new divisional sales director role.  His duties will include recruiting and growing revenue for the West division with a specific focus on California.

“Michael brings a combination of wealth management and banking knowledge and experience to his new complex director role, strengthening the strategic partnership of RBC and City National Bank, which RBC acquired in November 2015. The combination of the two companies creates a powerful platform for long-term growth in Southern California and the U.S.,” said Darryl Traweek, director of RBC’s South Division.  “We are proud to have the leadership of Ken and Michael to help us achieve our goals of offering premier private, business and commercial banking services and products to the elite clientele and financial advisors in the U.S.”

Melton graduated from Texas Christian University in 1984 with a Bachelor’s degree in business administration. In 2001, he graduated from the Wharton School of Business-Securities Industry Institute.
